Abel Tasman National Park

The Coast Track

VIEW OVER ASTROLABE ROADSTEAD
On January 16th 1827 Jules Sebastien Cesar Dumont D'Urville arrived here in his corvette "Astrolabe".

(How cool that D'Urville came to New Zealand in a Corvette!)

He named the main island above Adele Island after his wife. "Jules Point" jutting out from the left of Adele Island is the only place in the park named after D'Urville.
